Khari Mitchell, junior, is a South track star, and she made it to regionals at Ida Baker High School.

Her star has been ascending since the second grade. Now Khari is 16 years old and she snags first place in several events including the 100, the 200, 4-by-1 and long jump.

After every competition, she admits she is sore and tired, but she is also tremendously proud of herself. And, she just loves the sport.

“It makes me feel like all my problems go away,” she said.

What inspired her to run in the first place? It began with something as simple as Khari and her big sister running against each other when she was little.

While Khari was losing against her sister, it made her a more competitive person. Her losses pushed her to strive harder.  To Khari, her big sister is her inspiration.

Khari thanks her trainer, friends, and coaches for everything she has accomplished. She also urges future track runners to keep working hard and keep training.
