We are required to take history classes, and, unless we are planning on being a history major, we forget  everything we learned about the Industrial Revolution the next day.

We take math classes, and let’s be real here. When will you use y=mx+b unless you are in an algebra classroom?

Speech is the ability to express thoughts and feelings. It should be second nature for us to use our speech skills, right? Not everyone can fully use this ability to its full potential.

So why not take a class that comes with skills you can use to the max in your everyday life?

Taking a speech class can help you form a multiple of useful lifetime skills and strategies. A few of these skills include being a better listener and being able to help better articulate your words. It’s a great addition to any job application.

Paying attention to anyone who is speaking can help you listen for details or issues in their voice.  Let’s take a more personal look at what this means. Being a better listener not only means you can be more reliable and disciplined in your academic life, but this means you are able to be more reliable and trusted in your personal life as well.

You can also cultivate an open mind.

When you are able to better articulate your words, you instantly sound more authoritative and knowledgeable. Speech class helps you with this because in order to give a successful speech you are forced to really take time and prepare what you are going to say. Presenting about an idea is the truest comprehension of it.

Speech class can help you break from your shell.  Know it helped me break free of mine.

Speech class is a great elective that will help you in everyday life, so why not take one next semester?
